iPad “HD” Apps: Plants vs. Zombies HD, Worms HD and more

iPad-Plants-Vs.-Zombies-HD

Apparently “HD” is what Apple will use to differentiate between iPhone/iPod Touch games and the ones made only for the iPad. It was noted by several blogs earlier today that a couple of popular “HD” games were leaked early on iTunes. We are not sure at this point if the HD moniker will be used for any other app categories.

HD Games Launching Includes:

  • Plants vs. Zombies HD ( YES! )
  • Ammoin HD
  • Worms HD
  • Azkend HD
  • Flight Control HD
  • Grind HD
  • Labyrinth 2 HD
  • NBA Hotshot HD
  • Numba HD
  • Sparkle HD

It would appear that Apple has already approved a handful of apps to launch when the iPad does.

Apple doubles 3G Download Cap to 20MB ahead of iPad Launch

With iPad’s bigger screen and faster processor, iPad apps will be more sophisticated and therefore larger in size compared to the iPhone counterpart. In preparation for the launch of the 3G iPad in April, Apple has increased the cellular download cap to 20MB from 10MB for all downloads from the App Store and iTunes Store. Giving developers more flexibility for their applications.

An iPhone App/Game Ported to not the iPad

Always Innovating, the makers of the Touch Book, has successfully ported the iPhone game ‘Crazy Tanks’ on to their device. From the video, the game ran pretty smoothy with decent resolution on the Touch Book. iPhone apps on the Touch Book would be a great selling point, but Apple’s legal team won’t be too friendly about this at all, being that this is an iPhone App.

iPhone developers will also have to do some tweaking to the screen size and resolution to their app, especially games unless Apple plans to run all iPhone apps in an iphone-sized window on the tablet, which seems likely at this point.

Update: All iPhone apps are resized to fit the iPad.
