iFixit is at it again, revealing what’s inside the iPad 3G on day 1. Posted below is the highlights of the difference between an iPad and iPad 3G internally. You can check out the whole teardown at iFixit.

1. The immediate visible difference is the inclusion of a black plastic RF window on top of the iPad for better antenna reception.
2. The black RF window significantly changes the opening procedure. You cannot start separating the display using the notches on the top (à la Wi-Fi version), since that will undoubtedly break the RF window. You have to start from the right side and gingerly proceed to the top and bottom of the iPad.
3. There are actually FIVE antennas in this iPad: Two antennas handle the cell reception — one is in the RF window on top, the other attaches to the LCD frame. A single GPS antenna is also housed in the RF window on top. Just like the iPad Wi-Fi, there are two antennas that handle Wi-Fi / Bluetooth connectivity, one in the Apple logo and another to the left of the dock connector.
4. You heard that right, folks: Apple looks to be using the entire LCD frame as an antenna!
5. Who would’ve thought: Apple uses the same 3G baseband processor in both the iPhone 3GS and the iPad 3G.

iPad Jailbreak officially achieved by a team of devs including: Comex and Geohot! As shown in the image above, the speedy team has successfully installed Cydia onto the iPad, allowing the iPad to download un-approved and paid iPhone/iPad apps for free. Just last week, the iPhone dev-team announced that they have root access on the iPad, and now it looks like the team has also completed in installing cydia on the iPad as well.

No downloads and further details are available to the public as of yet, but Geohot or the iPhone Dev-Team will very soon release a download for their iPad jailbreak software. Geohot is known for his easy to use iPhone and now iPad jailbreak software, and the iPhone Dev-Team jailbreak software is always the most stable.

Note that Geohot have said that he won’t release his iPad jailbreak software before the 3G iPad models is out.

In order to get the iPads to customers in time, the first bunch of WiFi iPad pre-orders that was scheduled for delivery on launch day has began shipping out of the warehouse at China yesterday via UPS. Although it’s shipped with UPS EXPRESS, customers won’t get their iPads before Saturday, or Monday in remote areas because Apple has asked UPS to hold your iPad until the official release date.

With an estimated 120,000 iPad pre-orders on the first day alone, it wasn’t surprising to learn that Apple has sold out iPad reservations online. In addition to that, customers that are just now pre-ordering a Wi-Fi iPad won’t get theirs shipped until April 12th. WiFi iPad Pre-orders taken before today is still on scheduled to ship out on the 3rd and 3G versions late April.

I think we can expect long lines at the Apple Stores for the iPad Launch.

On Friday, Apple began taking pre-orders for the iPad, and according to an estimate done by the AAPL Sanity Team, nearly 120,000 iPads was sold on the first day alone.

You can see  more details on how they came up with that number at Deagol’s blog, but basically, looking at order numbers from a sampling of 99 orders over 19.5 hours, the team subtracted the number of typical daily online sales from the total estimated sales from Friday.

In addition, the team finds that the pre-orders were nearly equally split among the 16, 32 and 64 GB models, with almost 70% of the pre-orders going to the WiFi-only iPads.

As Victor Castroll, an analyst with Valcent Financial Group pointed out, “Apple has been able to generate over $75 million in revenue in one day on a product that 99.9% of purchasers haven’t touched or for that matter, even seen in person.”

New Button on the iPad: Screen Orientation Lock

Apple has exchanged what used to be the mute button on the iPad to a new button called “Screen Orientation Lock”. So you can lock the iPad screen in either portrait or landscape mode.

Apple Submits iPad to the FCC

Like with most of Apple’s FCC fillings, FCC revealed nothing on the iPad before the pre-orders started yesterday.

Model A1337 or also known as the iPad was tested by FCC and spotted to carry WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n and Bluetooth and the 3G Models will run on AT&T, GSM 850/1900 and UMTS 850/1900.

3G iPads are slightly larger

We know that the 3G version of iPad is 0.1 pound heavier than the WiFi-only iPad, but Interestingly enough, the FCC filling reveals that the 3G iPad is also 0.3mm taller and 0.1mm wider.

AppleCare for their iPad protection plan extends only to 2 years like the iPhone and iPod.

Limited iPad pre-orders and pickup time

Apple has limited iPad pre-orders to 2 per customer. Customers can pick up their iPad at 9 am to 3 pm on April 3rd.

iBooks Synchronization

iBooks will be able to sync non-DRM ePub titles from iTunes.

As you may know, Apple has began taking preorders for the WiFi iPad.

Aside from that, Apple has secretly slipped in a new button on the iPad that locks the orientation of the screen. Meaning that you can lock the iPad screen in either portrait or landscape mode.

Get your credit cards ready, folks. It’s Official: Apple will begin selling WiFi-only iPad on April 3rd, and taking Pre-orders on March 12th. No exact date was released for the 3G Models, but it will be available later in the same month.

It appears that there is indeed a slight delay on the launch of the iPad, it was scheduled for late March.

Internationally: People in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK will have to wait until “late April” to get either version of the iPad.

YouTube HTML5 Beta Video Player works fine in Safari on the iPad. Note that videos with ads will not play in iPad Safari due to Flash, YouTube is working on it.

Users will have the option to turn on the Battery Percentage Indicator on the iPad, like the iPhone 3GS. A feature not available in non-jailbroken iPhone 2G, 3G and iPod Touch.
