iPad 3G: Up to 9 hours of surfing the web on 3G

iPad-3G-Battery-LifeAs a good number of us wait for the 3G models of the iPad, Apple has added a new line under “Battery and Power” at the iPad Spec page: “Up to 9 hours of surfing the web using 3G data network“. An hour less vs surfing via WiFi as stared by Apple. With everyone praising iPad’s excellent battery life, we wouldn’t be surprise if it can offer more than 9 hours on just browsing the net.

iPad-Internals-Inside-Tear-Down-iFixit

Nope, not iFixit, they will have a detailed teardown of the iPad tomorrow.

Thee FCC has dissected the iPad and released photos of the iPad innards. The giant black piece in the center is the battery, which explains the prolonged battery life talked about by the early reviewers. And you can clearly see the amount of space the internals can use to breath, requiring no fan and no heating issues. You can check out the full gallery at engadget.

iPad Battery Replacement = iPad Replacement

iPad-Battery-Replacement

Dead iPad battery? Worry not, Apple will gladly replace your whole iPad for a new one (or maybe refurbished):

If your iPad requires service due to the battery’s diminished ability to hold an electrical charge, Apple will replace your iPad for a service fee.

Where as if an iPhone has a dead battery, only the battery gets swiped out:

If your iPhone requires service only because the battery’s ability to hold an electrical charge has diminished, Apple will service your iPhone for a service fee.

The iPad Replacement service will run users $106.

The service costs $99, plus $6.95 shipping. The total cost is $105.95 per unit.

All fees are in U.S. dollars and are subject to local tax.

And you’ll have to backup your data with iTunes before sending in your iPad for a replacement:

No. You will receive a replacement iPad that will not contain any of your personal data. Before you submit your iPad for service, it is important to sync your iPad with iTunes to back up your contacts, calendars, email account settings, bookmarks, apps, etc. Apple is not responsible for the loss of information when servicing your iPad.

iPad to Launch In February Of 2010?

iPad Release Date February

According to Steve Chuang from Cens, the imminent launch of the Apple iPad is set to be around February of 2010 and priced at $799-$999, which sounds just about right from the other rumors so far. Steve also got the scoop on a couple of Taiwanese suppliers that will be responsible for supplying parts for the Apple iPad.

First off, DynaPack International Technology Corp. will be supplying up to 300,000 of these supposedly long lasting batteries for the Apple iPad per month. Where as Wanshih Electronic Co., Ltd. will be supplying the mini coaxial cables for the iPad. And lastly, both Layers Scientific-Technics Co., Ltd. and Wintek Corp. will be supplying the Power Chokes and the lovely 9.7 incher Touch Panel.
