Here’s the Story: Apparently, YouTube user THISisCaSpEr bought all three models of the WiFi iPad at a Best Buy at Pittsburgh today. And he decided that smashing the $500 iPad with a baseball bat was “fun”.
Though pointless, the video reveals that the aluminum backing is fairly thin, which made it easier to dent and bent with a considerable amount of force. And also, as shown in the video, the downside to a bigger glass screen (Or whatever that was) is that it will be more prone to screen cracking. The iPad was dropped screen first on the concrete pavement and the result…
So yeah… Don’t drop your iPad or get some sort of protection for it.
I would have only thought he was cool had he pulverized the 800$ model.

Believe it or not, a lot of places do dump their food. It’s not because they want to but because the government (Health Department) will not allow homemade food or extra food from restaurants and supermarkets to be given to food pantries or homeless shelters. So, yeah, when homeless guys could be eating lots of food, the kindly people in the government won’t let them have day old bread because of the great harm to their health and well-being. Stupid and short-sighted. It’s also illegal in many places to feed homeless people at your home because you are not licensed and your kitchen has not been inspected and approved by the health department.

So what? In a few weeks the internet is going to be full of stories and videos of people complaining how their ipad broke when they put it on the sofa and then sat on it, or woke up and realized they had let it drop on the floor and it cracked, or they came home and the dog had chewed its corner, or they put it in their rucksack, and when they took it out again it had a big crack in the screen, or they had it on a cushion and it caught fire because of the battery or something. That would actually be good.

I think the beauty of this is that it really is kinda fun to break things. The fact it is an iPad has nothing to do with it… for all sake and purpose it could be a skateboard he’s breaking apart.
I personally find the destruction of a 500+ dollar device that I would love to have very wasteful. But then I think of all the cars and trucks people tear up just for the joy of doing it.

What is there to “hate” about a device. The best way to show Apple disapproval is not to buy their products. A company spends millions of dollars in research, development, production and marketing to make a product that people want or need, and you seem to say that they should either not profit from their labor or that they should be penalized for profiting by giving to people who have done nothing to earn the benefit.

The only good thing about this video that it shows how much the ipad isn’t worth buying because of its lack of solidity. Although it’s true, I think it’s more solid than its compititors, the netbooks. Howerver those machines will always outsmart the Ipad because of their OSes which are absent in the Ipad.
I’m the farthest thing from a Mac fanboi but I was cringing at the destruction of that iPad. I don’t see the purpose of destroying a perfectly good piece of hardware just to do it and/ or for fame. I hope they got their 500 dollars worth of enjoyment out of it.
During the vid it seems that they were kinda surprised in a way that the thing broke or was in that bad of condition. I mean, it’s not a Panny Toughbook for crying out loud, it’s a thin piece of aluminum and glass with a PCB inside. Of course it’s going to break into a million pieces, even without the bat.
